Eventide H949 Harmonizer Plugin is the official software emulation of the historic H949 Harmonizer®, the celebrated Eventide processor that revolutionized digital pitch shifting in the late 1970s and early 1980s. A direct evolution of the H910, the H949 introduced the first proprietary de-glitch algorithm for high-precision pitch shifting, as well as the iconic MicroPitch technology still used in thousands of professional productions today.
The H949 uses a sophisticated auto-correlation algorithm designed to perform pitch shifting with extremely smooth and musical transitions. For those who want the characteristic vintage digital behavior instead, the accuracy of the algorithm can be reduced, resulting in glitches and artifacts typical of early Eventide digital processing.
The MicroPitch function allows you to apply micro-variations in pitch to stereo channels, creating natural width, depth, and doubling. This technique has become a standard in professional production for vocals, guitars, synths, and mix buses.
The plug-in also includes the H949 Dual version, which reproduces the classic setup with two H949 units used in parallel. This configuration allows for advanced stereo widening, complex harmonization, and simultaneous pitch shifting up and down.
Eventide H949 Harmonizer Plugin integrates reverse delay, inverted pitch shifting, and randomized delays to create experimental textures, atmospheric sweeps, and futuristic sound design. From natural harmonizations to extreme, robotic effects, the plug-in offers enormous creative flexibility.
Used by legendary artists such as Jimmy Page and Suzanne Ciani, the H949 is still one of the most sought-after effects for music production, sound design, mixing, and sound experimentation. The software interface maintains the original Eventide character while integrating seamlessly into modern DAW workflows.
