The Gainlab Audio Dictator is a true Vari-Mu tube compressor designed with the philosophy of classic dynamic processors of this type in mind. Its operation is based on principles traceable to historic units such as the Fairchild 670 and Gates STA-Level, while also incorporating contemporary solutions developed to offer greater control over the sound’s behavior. Its timing and saturation characteristics echo those of traditional tube compressors, while the Dictator’s architecture allows you to switch from precise dynamic control to more pronounced processing, where compression and saturation become an integral part of the sound’s character.

The Dictator’s Mu-Follower Architecture and Dual Pentodes

The Dictator uses a pair of pentodes originally manufactured to high quality standards in former Warsaw Pact countries, including Hungary, East Germany, and Poland.
