In the Oberheim TEO-5 Desktop Module you meet the brand's sonic heritage and the practicality of a compact studio module. It retains the same analog oscillators and unmistakable multimode SEM filter as the keyboard version, with an immediate interface where everything is accessible from the top panel. It is the ideal solution for space-constrained studios and modern live setups, without sacrificing Oberheim character.
The synthesis structure offers 5 analog voices with 2 VCOs plus sub-oscillator per voice, selectable waveforms (triangle, saw, variable pulses), hard sync and white noise in the pre-filter mixer. SEM filter is a key point: continuous morphing from low-pass to notch and high-pass, with selectable band-pass mode and keyboard tracking. Modulations include linear and through-zero FM (X-Mod), DADSR envelopes and multiple LFOs with sync to internal clock or MIDI.
With the Mod Matrix (19 sources x 64 destinations, 19 slots) you can build complex routings, including audio-rate links. For expressiveness there are unison for up to 5 voices, polyphonic portamento, assignable aftertouch (mono), and the "Vintage" knob for simulating analog voice-to-voice variations. A "live panel" mode facilitates real-time intervention on visible parameters, while arpeggiator and 64-step polyphonic sequencer add a complete performance heart.
The effects section includes dedicated reverb, overdrive, and a multi-FX with vintage-style emulations and processes (stereo delay, BBD, tape, chorus, flanger, Oberheim phaser, ring mod, rotary, distortion, high-pass filter, and lo-fi). Connectivity includes L/R outputs, headphone output, MIDI DIN In/Out/Thru, two-way USB MIDI, and inputs for sustain and expression.
