A Vintage Soul with a Modern Touch

Both the desktop and keyboard versions of the Prophet-6 represent Dave Smith's homage to the original Prophet-5. This is no mere reissue, but a reworking that combines the best qualities of the classic-oscillators, filters, and voltage-controlled amplifiers-with modern features. The Prophet-6 Desktop adds arpeggiator, polyphonic sequencer, and a studio-quality effects section, offering a pure, unmistakable analog sound without the typical stability problems of vintage instruments.

The Analog Tone of the Sequential Prophet-6

At the heart of the Prophet-6's warm, punchy sound are two discrete voice oscillators (VCOs), plus a sub-oscillator, that offer continuously varying waveforms (triangular, sawtooth, and pulse). The filter section includes a four-pole, resonant low-pass filter, inspired by the Prophet-5, and a two-pole, resonant high-pass filter. The all-analog signal path is complemented by voltage-controlled amplifiers (VCAs), ensuring a rich and powerful sound.

Dual Effects and Poly Mod

The Prophet-6 Desktop features a high-quality (24-bit/48kHz) digital dual effects section with true-bypass, including reverbs, delays, chorus and phasers. When the effects are turned off, the signal remains completely analog. There is also a stereo, 100% analog distortion section to give the sound an extra punch. The "Poly Mod" section offers modulation sources such as filter envelope and oscillator 2, with destinations including the frequency, waveform and pulse width of the oscillators, and filter cutoff.

Polyphonic Sequencer and Arpeggiator

The 64-step polyphonic sequencer allows you to program up to six notes per step, with the ability to insert pauses and synchronize everything with an external MIDI clock. The arpeggiator can also be externally synchronized, offering flexibility and total control over performance. With 500 factory and 500 user programs, the Prophet-6 Desktop is an intuitive, powerful instrument ready to inspire every musician and producer.
