Convolutional reverb plug-in with the Atlas real-world spaces database
Waves Atlas Reverb is a plug-in designed to create spaces that integrate musically into your production, adding depth, dimension, and movement to vocals, drums, guitars, synthesizers, and complete mixes. Atlas is the result of Waves’ extensive research in the field of DSP reverbs and offers a wide range of original presets. Each environment has been developed and fine-tuned through listening, adjusting parameters such as tone, density, reflection behavior, modulation, depth, and overall response. The result is a reverb designed not only to be effective on a solo source but, above all, to find its place within a complete mix.
Atlas Reverb was developed through hundreds of hours of research and listening. The presets were built from scratch and optimized with regard to tone, movement, modulation, reflections, decay, and musical behavior. This approach allows you to quickly choose different environments based on the source and context, keeping the focus on the sonic result rather than on managing an excessive number of technical parameters.
One of the main goals of Waves Atlas is to achieve a reverb that remains effective when all tracks in a production are played back together. Vocals, drums, guitars, synths, and entire mixes can be placed within a deeper, three-dimensional space, aiming to avoid the sensation of an effect that feels separate from or simply layered over the original signal.
Atlas features Waves’ interpretations of the sounds that have defined some of the most recognizable digital reverbs used in record production. The library ranges from spacious halls and dense plate reverbs to chorus-style environments, gated reverbs, and large-scale effects inspired by 1980s productions. Each DSP-inspired preset is designed to recreate the color, movement, and character typical of these sonic aesthetics.
The variety of programs allows you to use Atlas both as the main reverb in a project and as a creative tool. You can switch from natural, deep spaces to more pronounced and distinctive effects, adapting the reverb to the needs of your production. The browsing system is designed to speed up the selection process: you can explore different spaces directly within the mix and quickly assess how each preset alters the perception and character of the track.
Atlas uses a fully algorithmic reverb engine. The spaces are therefore not simply static reproductions but are generated by the DSP to provide movement and a musical response to the processed material. A dynamic detection system allows the presets to react differently based on the input signal, helping to create environments that are less static and more integrated with the source.
Waves Atlas Reverb is also designed to be used as an operational reverb in everyday sessions. Its low latency and low CPU usage make it easy to use in complex productions with multiple instances of the plug-in. These features make it suitable for both studio production and mixing sessions as well as live mixing setups where efficiency and fast response times are particularly important.
