Erica Synths Razornator is a one-of-a-kind stereo effects unit based on an algorithm developed by the Dutch company 112dB. At the heart of the Razornator are 5 chromatically tuned resonant delay lines, capable of emulating the resonance of physical objects such as instrument bodies, environments, and structures. The chromatic tuning of the resonators makes the effect particularly musical, allowing them to be aligned in intervals similar to chords, while the built-in envelope follower adds dynamics to the processed signal.

The signal path: from the gain stage to the tunable resonators

The Razornator combines several precisely calibrated modules for stereo audio processing, with the goal of altering the harmonic content of the input signal. The signal path begins with a GAIN stage that can amplify the signal up to +24 dB, effectively acting as an analog overdrive. The signal then passes through a low-pass FILTER with RESONANCE control before being sent to the five chromatically tuned delay RESONATORS, which can be controlled manually or via the ENVELOPE FOLLOWER.

Compression, Equalization, and Balanced Output

After the resonators, the signal is summed and limited by a built-in COMPRESSOR, then mixed with the dry signal and passed through the EQUALIZER, before reaching the BALANCED OUTPUT stage. This complete signal path makes the Razornator an extremely versatile tool for harmonic sound design, ranging from subtle textures to radical timbre transformations.

Full MIDI Control and Premium Aluminum Housing

With 12 parameters dedicated to detailed sound design, save/recall functions for all parameters, and preset morphing, the Razornator offers in-depth creative control. All parameters, including resonator tunings, are controllable via MIDI, while a configurable footswitch input allows for immediate control during live performances. The premium aluminum chassis fits seamlessly into Erica Synths’ line of compact desktop units, ready to accompany your setup at every live performance, in the studio, or during sound experiments.
